چکیده

Resummation of the chiral expansion is necessary to make accurate contact with current lattice simulation results of full QCD. Resummation techniques including relativistic formulations of chiral effective field theory and finite-range regularization (FRR) techniques are reviewed, with an emphasis on using lattice simulation results to constrain the parameters of the chiral expansion. We illustrate how the chiral extrapolation problem has been solved and use FRR techniques to identify the power-counting regime (PCR) of chiral perturbation theory. To fourth-order in the expansion at the 1% tolerance level, we find 0 ≤ mπ ≤ 0.18 GeV for the PCR, extending only a small distance beyond the physical pion mass.

Chiral Effective Field Theory Beyond the Power Counting Regime

Chiral effective field theory complements numerical simulations of quantum chromodynamics on a spacetime lattice. It provides a model-independent formalism for connecting lattice simulation results at finite volume, and at a variety of quark masses, to the physical region. Knowledge of the power-counting regime of chiral effective field theory, where higher-order terms of the expansion may be r...

Power Counting Regime of Chiral Extrapolation and Beyond

Finite-range regularised chiral effective field theory is presented in the context of approximation schemes ubiquitous in modern lattice QCD calculations. Using FRR techniques, the powercounting regime (PCR) of chiral perturbation theory can be estimated. To fourth-order in the expansion at the 1% tolerance level, we find 0 ≤ mπ ≤ 180 MeV for the PCR, extending only a small distance beyond the ...

Towards Selecting a Finite - Range Regularization Scale

Received (received date) Revised (revised date) Extensive studies have demonstrated that finite-range regularization (FRR) offers significantly improved chiral extrapolations for lattice QCD. These studies have typically relied on selecting the finite-regularization scale based upon phenomenological input. Here we report on a preliminary investigation of a procedure to determine a preferred ran...

Chiral extrapolation and physical insights

It has recently been established that finite-range regularisation in chiral effective field theory enables the accurate extrapolation of modern lattice QCD results to the chiral regime. We review some of the highlights of extrapolations of quenched lattice QCD results, including spectroscopy and magnetic moments. The ∆ resonance displays peculiar chiral features in the quenched theory which can...

From QCD Instantons at HERA to Electroweak B + L Violation at VLHC∗

This review emphasizes the close analogy between hard QCD instantoninduced chirality violating processes in deep-inelastic scattering and electroweak instanton-induced baryon plus lepton number (B + L) violating processes in Quantum Flavor Dynamics (QFD). Recent information about QCD instantons, both from lattice simulations and from the H1 experiment at HERA, can be used to learn about the fat...
